Clean Air Month May 2013

Clean Air MonthWhile it is all around us and we would die without it, we rarely stop to think about it: air! Having clean air contributes to a better quality of life for not only us humans, but the entire earth as a whole. And did you know that clean air can mean preventing certain prevalent diseases, like asthma and chronic bronchitis? All in all, clean air is important!

That is why we have national Clean Air Month. This is a time for us to put the importance of clean air at the forefront and do our part to help solve the problem of pollution. Since cars are a big contributor to air pollution through exhaust emissions, this is a great time to take a good hard look at your car and driving habits.

There are plenty of simple things that you can do to improve the quality of air in your city. Firstly, how about carpooling? This saves gas and money for you and your fellow car poolers, plus it reduces overall car emissions. Or better yet, you could bike to work. And why not if you have a short commute?

Lastly and probably the easiest thing you can do it is have the filters in your car checked and replaced. From the fuel filter to the air filter, filters within your car are meant to trap dirt and debris in order to keep your car running in optimal condition. When these filters are clogged, your car does not performance as well as it should and therefore emits less than clean air.

So head on over to Steamboat Motors to get your filters checked or replaced! It will mean a world of difference to the air and our environment. Get out and do your part for Clean Air Month this May!

Flat Rock Assembly Plant Celebrates One Millionth Ford Mustang

Just last week Ford celebrated a huge accomplishment at their Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan: the one millionth Ford Mustang was built! In addition, the Mustang turned 49 years old the day before. That’s a lot to celebrate.

Ford commemorated the occasion by rolling a ruby red 2014 GT Mustang Convertible off the assembly line as staff members applauded along the sidelines. Since opening in 2004, Flat Rock has pushed out some major Mustang designs, like the Shelby GT500, Boss 302, and many, many more.

Raj Nair, group vice president for global product development, was the one riding shotgun in the one millionth Mustang at Flat Rock. As he puts it, “Mustang is one of the most beloved nameplates in the industry, with fans around the world and throughout Ford Motor Company…The team here at Flat Rock Assembly has built an outstanding reputation for quality while producing one million Mustangs over the last nine years, and we expect that to continue for many years to come.”

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee DieselThe Jeep Grand Cherokee is already a highly popular, quality SUV. When they came out with the 2014 model, we thought, “How could they make this great SUV even better?”   Jeep’s answer was simple but genius: make a diesel option.

Enter the 3.0-liter Diesel V6 engine, a beast of 240-horsepower and 420 lb-ft. of torque. Add to that an 8-speed automatic transmission, four-wheel drive, a 7,400 pound towing capacity, and a fuel economy rating of 28 mpg highway, and you’ve got a true winner.

As you can see, we are pretty excited about the Grand Cherokee Diesel.  Not only does this model break the mold of gas powered SUVs, it also shatters preconceived notions about diesel cars. The drive is smooth and the cabin remains surprisingly quiet. The car doesn’t shake or have a delayed start like you might expect either. Plus, if you opt for the rear-wheel drive version, the Grand Cherokee Diesel can get up to 30 mpg highway – yet another perk.

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Charging PadAs for the interior, the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel is fully outfitted. Some unique things to note: a personalized instrument cluster, push-button start, an industry-exclusive Sky Slider sunroof that reaches both front and rear passengers, a wireless charging pad, and extra rear cargo storage.

Are you as excited about the 2014 Grand Cherokee Diesel as we are? Yeah, that’s what we thought. For more information, head over to Jeep.com. Looking for the gas powered 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee? Visit the Steamboat Motors website!

Ford Mustang Shelby on the Autobahn

Let’s face it: the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is one tough car. Making a strong entrance with a V8 engine, 662-horsepower, 631 lb-ft. of torque, and a top speed of more than 200 mph, the Mustang Shelby just oozes speed.

Listening to the grumble of that all-powerful engine, you might wonder why this speed demon has never made it to one of fastest, most exciting roadways out there. Ford wondered that too, which is why they shipped the all-American 2013 Mustang Shelby GT500 to the heart of fast cars and curving roads: the Autobahn.

Check out this video highlighting the Shelby’s run on the famous, German, no-speed-limit roadway:
