2012 Ford Focus Electric Named Most Fuel-Efficient Five-Passenger Car in America

The 2012 Ford Focus Electric was recently named the most fuel-efficient five-passenger vehicle in America. This all new Electric car outlasted the competition, reaching an amazing 110 MPGe city and 99 MPGe highway.

The 2012 Focus Electric joins Ford’s already impressive fleet of fuel-efficient vehicles, including the 2012 Edge EcoBoost, 2012 Explorer EcoBoost, 2013 Fusion Hybrid, and several others. Ford offers drivers one of the largest selections of fuel-efficient vehicles on the market, due mainly to their strategy of transforming existing designs versus attempting to develop fuel-efficient vehicles from the ground up.

One feature that sets this vehicle apart from the competition is its unique charging system. Not only will the Focus Electric travel farther on a single charge than any competitor (76 miles), it also recharges in just four hours, which is nearly twice as fast as the Nissan Leaf. The 2012 Ford Focus recently made the top 10 list for Best Redesigned Vehicle by Kelley Blue Book.  Kelley Blue Book chooses those vehicles whose team of designers, product planners, and engineers did the best job of completely transforming the vehicle into something much better.

Kelley Blue Book commented that the 2012 Ford Focus has been “reworked, restyled and completely changed from the model it replaces.”  Other countries have inspired this car’s new look.  The Ford Focus has a European look and feel, but with Japanese fuel economy and in-cabin technologies.

The 2012 Ford Focus now provides drivers with better driving dynamics and a sportier style on the inside and outside.  The Ford Focus is definitely making its mark in North America with its new and improved technologies, features, and fuel efficiency, delivering up to 40 MPG on the highway.

2012 Ford Focus Earns Four Advanced Technology Safety Awards

The 2012 Ford Focus is the first car ever to receive four Euro NCAP Advanced Safety Awards for its Driver Alert and Forward Alert technologies.

The new Driver Alert System in the 2012 Ford Focus is designed to detect tired driver behavior using advanced camera technology and on-board sensors. This Driver Alert feature displays a vigilance rating via the instrument cluster and will even send a warning if it detects that the driver is fatigued and needs to rest.

In addition to monitoring the alertness of the driver, the 2012 Focus also monitors the traffic on the road with the Forward Alert Accident Warning System. If stopped or slowing traffic is detected, the system will send a warning chime and signal, and will even trigger the brakes if no action is taken.

The Euro NCAP Advanced Awards were introduced in 2010 to recognize car manufacturers who make new safety technologies widely available. As a more affordable car brand, Ford is able to effectively introduce these high-tech features to a greater amount of people.
