Clean Air Month May 2013

Clean Air MonthWhile it is all around us and we would die without it, we rarely stop to think about it: air! Having clean air contributes to a better quality of life for not only us humans, but the entire earth as a whole. And did you know that clean air can mean preventing certain prevalent diseases, like asthma and chronic bronchitis? All in all, clean air is important!

That is why we have national Clean Air Month. This is a time for us to put the importance of clean air at the forefront and do our part to help solve the problem of pollution. Since cars are a big contributor to air pollution through exhaust emissions, this is a great time to take a good hard look at your car and driving habits.

There are plenty of simple things that you can do to improve the quality of air in your city. Firstly, how about carpooling? This saves gas and money for you and your fellow car poolers, plus it reduces overall car emissions. Or better yet, you could bike to work. And why not if you have a short commute?

Lastly and probably the easiest thing you can do it is have the filters in your car checked and replaced. From the fuel filter to the air filter, filters within your car are meant to trap dirt and debris in order to keep your car running in optimal condition. When these filters are clogged, your car does not performance as well as it should and therefore emits less than clean air.

So head on over to Steamboat Motors to get your filters checked or replaced! It will mean a world of difference to the air and our environment. Get out and do your part for Clean Air Month this May!

The Importance of Snow Tires

Snow TiresFor those of us in Steamboat Springs, We’re used to the drastic change from the summer months to the winter. We enjoy the sunny July weather and then jump right into the skiing and snowboarding when winter comes. But there is one thing that might not transition to the winter weather as well as you: your tires.

Because of the high amount of snow fall, ice, and sleet that is characteristic of winter in Steamboat Springs, your car needs to be prepared for the slippery roads and packed snow.

Enter winter tires: these tires are specifically designed to work with cold weather. They are made of a different kind of rubber that does not get as hard as regular tires. In addition, the special tread increases traction and allows water to move through the tread grooves more easily.  By channeling water, ice, and snow through the treads, these tires reduce the risk of hydroplaning or slipping.

So think back a moment to last winter and remember all those times your car slipped or you got stuck in the snow. I bet you wished you had snow tires back then. Don’t make the same mistake this winter! Head over to Steamboat Motors and get your snow tires today!

Air Induction and Fuel System Service Special

These days, nearly everyone is concerned with gas mileage and upping the efficiency of their cars. And why shouldn’t they be? Gas prices will only continue to rise in the future.

But did you know that gas mileage can be affected by your car’s air induction system? As time goes on, the fuel injection systems in your car tend to become clogged with unburned fuel that will eventually turn into carbon deposits. As a result, cars need to be “cleaned up” to get rid of these deposits and to restore its original efficiency and fuel economy.

Clogged air induction and fuel systems can also results in poor performance, backfiring, and strange noises. A simple air and fuel system service could make these problems a thing of the past.

Steamboat Motors is making it easier and more affordable for you to get these systems cleaned with their Air Induction and Fuel System Service Special. For only $199, you can have your car running like new again. Plus your wallet will thank you next time you head to the gas pump.

Summer Tires at Steamboat Motors

Summer is officially here. You may be thinking that this is the time for going to the pool and taking that vacation, but it is also time for something else: putting summer tires on your car!

Summer TiresSteamboat Motors has both the snowy winter weather as well as hot, sunny summers. As a result, it is important to have the proper tires on your car to suit the differing seasons.

Summer tires are different from winter or all-season tires because they are softer and therefore grip the road better. This added grip makes for better braking, accelerating, traction, handling, and overall performance – hence why they are also called high-performance tires.

The special tread on summer tires is also ideal for driving in the rain. And the added performance that they deliver can increase fuel efficiency and produce a more comfortable ride.

So come on down to the Steamboat Motors Parts Department to get your summer tires! We’ve got a great selection and are ready and waiting to install them for you!
